This is my interpretation of a music video for Taylor Swift's "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince." My concept for this video is all about Taylor being overwhelmed and battling a situation she doesn't have control over. She is a pawn in game trying to navigate her way out. The video shows her journey as she tries to escape the game. The Heartbreak Prince is a part of the game but eventually tries to help her find a way out. By the end she has escaped, and even rescues The Heartbreak Prince from the game too!
The costumes for this video are edgy and dark. My designs are inspired by royalty and fantasy to create powerful personas and a sense of mystery. Taylor is a strong woman in bold reds and gold with pieces of armor. The Heartbreak Prince is in black with hints of red and gold. Their costume has a veil covering their face to keep their identity generic and ambiguous for viewers. While Taylor's costume is strong and powerful, The Heartbreak Prince's costume toes the line of masculinity and femininity to make the character more relatable to viewers.
